For years, Apple came to be one of the trendsetters who has strong influence in the design world. The Macs, iPod, iPhone, and the last released gadget, iPad, has a great market domination. I will give you a short tutorial on how to make the Apple store Navigation style.

I will create a small document, 400 *200 pixel. I’ll try to stay in my view port as big as 100% so you can have a clear view of my tutorial.

Once we have a white 400 * 200 pixels document, let’s use Rounded Rectangle Tool, and we leave default 10 pixels for the radius.

Next, let’s apply layer style on our brand new rounded rectangle. Double clicks on the layer, and the layer style palette will show up.

You will need to set the foreground color to #E8E8E8 and background color to #C6C6C6. On the rounded corner, we apply Gradient Overlay layer style. Set the blend mode to normal, opacity 100%.

Click on the gradient (above image), and select the most top left gradient. It is a default gradient, created from foreground and background color.

Now we have a styled rounded rectangle. I put text over the block, and the rest of the tutorial will show you how to play the text.

Basically, there are 3 effects to use for the text. It’s Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, and Color Overlay. Be sure to put exactly the same value!

Finally, we put separator between the text.
